Live Tree Set-Up Tips

The freshest Christmas tree will be the one that is cut while you wait.

When choosing the height of your tree don't forget to allow room for your ornament at the top of the tree.

When you get home cut (as straight as possible) about one inch off the base trunk of your new Christmas tree. Do not cut your tree base in the shape of a wedge or on an angle as this will reduce the amount of water the tree can absorb. Place the base of the tree in a container of water if you are not setting it up that day. The day you are ready to set up your Christmas tree make sure you have a Christmas tree stand capable of holding water. You will need to water your tree daily. Do not allow the water level to go below the base trunk of the tree as this will cause a seal to form and then the tree can't draw any water from the stand. If this happens you will need to cut another inch off the base trunk of your Christmas tree.
